Our Client, a leading online retailer has a vacancy for a Senior Garment Technologist, Womenswear to join their team on a 6 - 9 month FTC. The position reports to the Technical Manager has two direct reports and oversees a multi-product team of 5 so management experience is key for this role.
The Senior Technologist will lead, support, and influence their own and the wider team to deliver product ranges consistent with the Brand’s standards.
The Senior Technologist will:
Develop styles and monitor team’s product development ensuring that products are fully compliant and developed in line with the critical path.
Manage the achievement of the Key Performance Indicators for their product area including AQL pass rates, fit returns targets, and in-stock targets.
Lead and influence their team to deliver results and achieve targets whilst fully developing their potential.
Hold regular team meetings, manage personal development plans and individual performance targets
Ensures their team has the highest level of technical expertise and ability by a programme of continuous technical training, monitoring of technical decisions, benchmarking, and monitoring suppliers and factories within their product area
Keep up to date with technical changes and developments and keeps the team informed
Respect and uphold the Brand’s quality standards and delivers legally compliant product
Maintain focus on the Brand’s customer and customer communication including analysis of customer feedback and handling of critical complaints.
Have a sound knowledge of competition and uses this to benchmark products
Establish good working relationships with the supply base. Regularly review supplier performance and compliance
Provide technical input to ensure that product is manufactured by the appropriate supplier
Have a strong relationship with ethical team and awareness of supplier’s ethical status
Formulates and delivers the technical strategy for their specific product area that supports the Brand’s values
Contribute to and complete action from supplier strategy meetings
The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate:
A degree or equivalent in a fashion, textiles, or related discipline
Excellent technical knowledge of multi-product womenswear. Strong technical ability in fitting woven products is essential.
Sound knowledge of yarns and fabric types, their properties, testing requirements, and end-use
A good understanding of factory procedures, pattern, and garment construction
Previous experience managing a technical team is essential for this role
