Garment Technologist - Temp Womens and Menswear

Temporary 1-3 months

We have an urgent vacancy for a temporary Garment Technologist, specialising in Women’s and Menswear multi-product to work with a leading fast fashion retail group. The contract is for 1-3 months whilst our Client recruits a permanent candidate for the vacancy.

Job summary:

Our Client’s QA team are looking for a confident individual to join the team as a Garment Technologist. To work alongside the buying team, implement and improve fit and quality, whilst working with a strong commercial attitude and fast pace to meet business KPIs

The role:

• Conduct fit sessions for own product area(s) in-house and at source, balancing speed and quality; making commercial decisions with confidence; owning the fitting process and inspiring trust and confidence from colleagues and suppliers.

• Sending clear, concise and accurate comments to suppliers; processing samples in a timely and agile manner, in line with KPI’s.

• Liaising with design, buying and suppliers to offer technical guidance on new product development with the aim of reducing costs and improving quality.

• Contributing to initiatives to reduce customer returns.

• Building strong relationships with suppliers, to implement standards to help with sealing at first fit.

• Implement brand standard sizing and quality standards as implemented by the brand strategy and handwriting.

• Promoting quality at all times, whilst maintaining a strong commercial attitude.

The Candidate:

• Previous experience in Women’s and Menswear multi-product is essential, plus experience working in a fast paced environment.

• A technically-oriented qualification, preferably at degree level, is essential.

• Multi-product experience including fringe areas; ability to move between product areas.

• Confident and strong individual, with ability to manage their own fit sessions.

• Comprehensive understanding of fitting and fit issues is essential.

• Pattern cutting knowledge is very desirable alongside knowledge of grading and grade rules.

• Experience of working directly with factories, and thorough understanding of factory production, including work-flow and production control.

• First class communication skills.

• Keen interest in overseas travel desirable.

• Able to meet new challenges with a positive attitude.

• Strong time-management skills; able to prioritise tasks and change direction with agility.

• Confident using Outlook, Excel and Word. Keen to expand skill set as the role demands.
