Job Purpose:
Working as part of a small QA team to evaluate the quality, performance and compliance of products. Provide guidance, advice and support to the wider commercial and Logistics teams on compliance and legal requirements. To investigate and report reasons for customer returns or complaints in order to support satisfactory resolution.
Key responsibilities & accountabilities:
• Evaluate products, with particular reference to legal requirements, product claims, quality, fitness for purpose, mail-order compatibility and other circumstances to help maximise customer satisfaction.
• Advising the business in relation to information used to sell products on TV and websites, to ensure accuracy and conformance with statutory requirements and codes (e.g. Codes of Advertising Practice, Price Indications and Comparisons and relevant legislation).
• Arrange performance testing of products or samples as necessary, using internal or external resources.
• Monitor on-going compliance of products to agreed specifications.
• Investigate abnormal product return levels and identify ways of reducing these by working with buyers and suppliers to provide solutions
• Carry out ad-hoc product inspection and evaluation activities (including quality audits of suppliers and third party manufacturers) as required.
• Provide advice and support to the Warehouse QC Goods-In Team and other departments as appropriate.
• Liaise with in-house teams, suppliers and external organisations as appropriate.
• Collate and analyse data and provide regular summaries and reports as required.
• Assist in training employees to achieve quality objectives and promote a quality conscious attitude throughout the business.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in accordance with company and legal requirements.
• Some travel may be required so flexibility is essential.
Knowledge & Experience required:
Essential:
• Relevant experience of working in a Quality Assurance role in a manufacturing or retail environment.
• Experience of dealing with statutory requirements for consumer products particularly in relation to electricals and/or chemical products.
• Knowledge and experience of QA principles and techniques
Desirable:
• A knowledge of relevant statutory requirements and good manufacturing practice (GMP)
• A background knowledge of regulatory requirements for electrical household / garden goods and household / gardening chemicals
• Experience of quality auditing
• Understanding of the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) principles.
• Graduates with qualifications in a science or product based discipline will be considered.
