Job Purpose
• Performing assessments / evaluation of product samples.
• Generate, review and update product reliability, performance and test specifications.
• Assessing and approving Supplier Factories for Product Build Quality, Product safety and Ethical Auditing.
• Assist building a Quality Management System focused on Suppliers, Customers and Consumers.
• Assist with analysis of Customer and Consumer product returns.
• Investigate and report on consumer claims arising from use of Swan Branded products.
• Ensuring all products meet UK and EU legislation and guidelines.
• Ensuring product packaging meets customer and in-house requirements.
• Compiling / editing a User Instruction Booklet for each product.
Job summary
The Quality Assurance Engineer will be expected to build upon their existing knowledge and skills and demonstrate an aptitude and enthusiasm to work towards becoming a Quality Assurance Manager.
The role calls for someone from an Electrical / Mechanical Engineering background with some experience of creating or auditing a Quality Management System.
The Quality Assurance Engineer will be responsible for ensuring Quality and Ethical audits are arranged and follow up on Corrective Actions where necessary.
The Quality Assurance Engineer will also incorporate the requirements for UK (UKCA) and European (CE) marking and other Legislation and Guidelines as appropriate to each product.
Customer experience with products is closely monitored. The Quality Assurance Engineer’s role is to investigate and act on faults and manage the formal reports process.
Packaging requirements and Instruction Booklets, both in-house and Customer specifications, are to be checked and tested by the Quality Assurance Engineer.
The role will frequently require the post holder to engage with overseas suppliers / service providers and internal departments.
Key Responsibilities
• Product samples require to be reviewed for full compliance before authorisation is given to produce.
• Engagement with supplier factories to ensure modifications and amendments to product, packaging and user manuals are available before production date.
• Liaison with third-parties in the ongoing update to Product Specifications and Conformances as In-house and UK/EU legislation changes.
• Involved, with all other departments, in the ongoing development and documentation of processes and procedures to maintain an effective and efficient business delivery.

• Liaising with Testing laboratories in Asia and UK
• Brand Customers in UK and EU

Essential criteria (Necessary for safe and effective performance in the job.)
Qualifications: Electrical/Electronics and Mechanical Engineering to HND/HNC or equivalent.
Experience: Creating and using performance /reliability/ safety/ compliance specifications for electrical /mechanical products or components.
Specific Skills and Competency:
Able to work on own initiative.
Keen interest to apply Continuous Improvement to products and procedures. IT literate – proficient in using word processing, spread sheets and databases. Personal Qualities:
