Product Technologist - Home textiles / rugs

We have an exciting opportunity for a Product Technologist with an award-winning business. This is a fantastic opportunity to further your career in a fast moving, growing business.

This is a hybrid role, negotiable on the number of days worked at home with flexibility around core hours of 9.30am -3.30pm. Family orientated business!

By being part of the technical team, your key focus will always be going the extra mile in all aspects of this role, which means you will take responsibility for supporting the Product team in their efforts to keep ahead of the market on key trends and build a superb range each season.

The successful candidate must be self-motivated, and able to work efficiently alone as well as part of a team. You must be able to work under pressure, managing a varied workload to ensure tight deadlines are achieved. With a desire to succeed and progress, you will be a quick learner with a happy to help attitude.

Passion for quality, delivering compliance, and ensuring right first time at every stage of product lifecycle is the foundation of your role. Experience working in a busy quality department would be an advantage. You must be methodical and accurate in your approach to tasks, but most importantly, you will have excellent organisation and communication skills and the ability to provide complete support to the product team.

Key aspects of the role are:

Ethical

• Management of supplier audits from onboarding to ongoing across suppliers based in China, India, and EU

• Follow up corrective action plan to ensure all sites have acceptable audits Ethical trade membership management

• Developing and reviewing policies

• Advising relevant parties on compliance with regulation

Products

• Evaluating new product designs to support the buying team throughout the new product development and existing product reviews

• Identify the relevant safety, testing, and certification requirements for products

• Product sealing process from initiating the sample production to gold seals

• Product specification management

• Critical Path and tracker management- Responsible for updating the trackers and Critical Path, managing any issues with the relevant teams and ensuring all deadlines are met.

• Due diligence and non-compliance product inspections

• Investigate and manage customer complaints

• Analyse product returns to highlight and address quality issues

• Vendor Management- communication with vendors is key to achieving results and ensuring deadlines are met. Strong communication and

Skills and Experience

• Relevant experience in a similar role

• Experience in Ethical Audits (SMETA and BSCI)

• Familiar use of SEDEX and ETI Base code

• Experience working with buyers and designers

• Experience of customer facing presentations

• Knowledge and understanding of product manufacturing, testing, and sealing

• A methodical approach to work and good multi-tasking skills

• Ability to work independently and within a team

• A meticulous eye for detail, good organizational and time management skills

• Textile experience will be advantageous
