Our Client, a leading Baby and Childrenswear retailer, is looking for a Product Technologist to cover Toys and Infant Products. All candidates with relevant experience from Assistant to Technologist level will be considered.
The Product Technologist will join their expanding Technical team covering a wide remit of beautiful products for the infant market. Covering a large range of soft, plush and wooden toys, plastics, silicone feeding items, furniture, storage, changing items, buggy accessories etc. this role offers great scope for someone with varied experience.
This is a 12 month Fixed Term Contract with the possibility of becoming a permanent role.
The Product Technologist will ensure that designs are developed and produced to the highest quality and safety standards and to schedule.

Duties to comprise all areas of development and production, including:
Developing technical specification packs, including risk assessments and compliance requirements.
Owning Toy Technical Files and all Testing documentation.
Ensuring that all items adhere to British Safety Standards, international compliance where necessary and all labelling and packaging requirements.
Dealing with Far East suppliers to ensure critical path is maintained.
Commenting & developing on samples in liaison with the designer and buyer.
Ensuring high quality detailing, trims and construction methods are used.
Sealing for production and checking shipment samples.
Resolving quality or production issues and effecting change to mitigate future issues.
Guiding junior members of the team.
The successful candidate will be currently working at Assistant, Junior or Technologist level and have experience developing infants products, preferably including Toys and Accessories.
We appreciate you may not have the full experience of a Product Technologist but candidates with a broad range of technical skills who are keen to progress and learn will also be considered. You must be a strong communicator, capable of delivering under tight deadlines and a good team player.
The ideal candidate will have experience in a technology department of a commercial retailer or supplier that works directly with factories and will be able to demonstrate the following skills:
Experience of working directly with foreign factories across numerous categories
Qualified with an appropriate NVQ or higher
Excellent verbal and written English plus strong communication skills
Excellent communication skills and a keen eye for detail.
Comprehensively computer literate, with a good knowledge of Excel.
Be able to efficiently multi-task, be highly organised and work happily in a busy, whilst friendly, atmosphere
Understanding of high quality lifestyle brand standards balanced with commercial needs
