We have a unique opportunity for a skilled Gerber Pattern cutter to join a leading retail Brand in Melbourne Australia! Relocation support and visa provided for an initial 2 year contract
Key responsibilities:
Interpret garment design from Designers briefing and ensure clear and detailed notes are taken to assist in developing the pattern
Follow design and fit requirements as specified by the Designer in the Design Brief.
Work in cohesion with the Designer throughout the pattern making process to ensure the integrity of the design brief is maintained.
Ensure samples are sewn up in the same basic fabric quality to be used for production.
Inform Production, Design and Buying when samples are ready to fit on same day of completion.
Ensure sample meets Buyer/Designer requirements and is consistent with fit and quality standards.
Provide Designer/Buyer with technical guidance by communicating alteration recommendations where required in fit sessions.
Ensure garments are fitted correctly and everyone works in close partnership to perfect the fit and design of the garment.
Alter pattern as agreed with Designer/Buyer/QA during the fit session within agreed priorities.
Provide the Designer/Buyer with technical expertise, guidance and recommendations if a style or alteration is not achieving the desired look.
Patterns to be provided with clear sewing and cutting instructions for machinists to follow.
Proactively manage workload with respect to the critical path deadlines keeping all stakeholders informed at all times.
Foresee possible delays with regard to completing patterns to agreed deadlines seeking guidance from the Sample Room Manager and Buyer on priorities.
Update the sample tracker on a daily basis to reflect current workload priorities and progress.
Take reasonable care for personal safety and that of other individuals within the workplace
Report any hazardous conditions, near misses, incidents and injuries in a timely manner and in accordance with relevant procedures
Participate in meetings, training and other workplace health and safety activities
Do not wilfully place at risk the health or safety of any individual in the work place
Do not wilfully or recklessly interfere with or misuse anything provided in the interest of workplace health and safety or welfare
Cooperate with the Company in relation to activities taken to comply with WHS legislation and WHS standard
Skills required:
Previous experience in the industry working as a pattern cutter
Computer Literacy in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook and Word)
Computer Literacy in Gerber Pattern Design System.
Sound Technical Knowledge of Garment Construction, Pattern Making and Grading.
Full understanding of the garment fit process and Critical Path elements.
A high attention to detail and accuracy.
Skills to create patterns manually and on Gerber.
Proven ability to multi-task, time manage and work under pressure to tight deadlines.
