Garment Technologist - Maternity cover 11 months

Our Client is a comfort-led, lifestyle brand with a customer-centric philosophy. They design and make functional, stylish, off-duty clothing for men and women.

We have a great opportunity for an experienced Garment Technician to join their tea for a fixed term contract to cover a maternity leave. Sitting within the Design team and reporting to the Senior Product Developer, you will play an integral role in the development and growth of the product ranges and take ownership of all things technical.

This is an 11 month contract starting mid July.

The Role:

  • Full ownership of garment specifications from development to production sealers.

  • Measuring all samples, creating, amending and updating fully graded specs and providing technical drawings / diagrams where necessary.

  • Responsible for the creation of fully graded size specifications.

  • Organising and attending fit meetings with the Designers and Senior Product Developer, fitting garments to a high standard and communicating all comments to suppliers.

  • The point of contact for factories regarding any technical issues or queries they may have throughout the sampling period and working closely to ensure the product meets the required quality standards.

  • Liaising with the Pattern Cutter to ensure patterns are amended accordingly, tracking in-house patterns and ensuring that all patterns are checked prior to sending out to factory.

  • Ensuring all samples are on time and in line with critical path, checking and approving gold seal samples are fit for production and ensuring factories have all necessary information to deliver the best product.

  • Requesting, evaluating and approving test reports and results.

  • Organising wearer trials to ensure garments are fit for purpose.

  • Consistently maintaining and improving quality standards.

  • Working closely with the QC spot-checking production with store and warehouse visits to ensure finishing is of a first-class standard.

  • Analysing product returns and ensuring that follow up action is taken.

  • Attending regular design and production meetings in order to update the team of sampling progress.

The Candidate:

  • Relevant experience working in a garment technician role.

  • Experience working with Nightwear, Loungewear, Athleisure and Underwear across men’s, women’s and childrenswear

  • Strong fitting and grading experience. Pattern cutting knowledge would be an advantage.

  • Experience working with luxury fabrics.

  • Strong knowledge in testing.

  • Passionate about attention to detail and strong knowledge of industry guidelines and standards.

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel.

  • Willing to travel abroad if required.

  • Strong communicator.

  • Team player and able to work under pressure calmly.

  • Understanding of a workroom environment and adaptable to different situations that may arise
