Assistant / Junior Technologist - Womenswear

6 month contract

We have an opening for an Assistant / Junior Womenswear Technologist to join a leading retailer for a 6 month contract, starting in March. Our Client can accommodate hybrid working, flexing between 2-3 days in the office and working from home.

Responsibilities include:

  • Coordination of the day to day tasks in support of the Quality & Technical Department

  • Managing & issuing user trials, collating feedback & reporting on outcomes.

  • Tracking & chasing in test reports and certifications, collating & reporting back to the Product Development Technologist where required & approving where appropriate

  • Coordinating the process & paper trail of product withdrawals & recalls.

  • Running ad hoc Technical & Compliance reports (quality/factory/audit/sustainability measures)

  • Managing surveillance testing - managing the products, testing & admin, and collating outcomes into a report.

  • Carrying out product integrity checks, producing and distributing the outcome letters to suppliers

  • System management e.g. SGS, JL Engage. Keeping information up to date.

  • Coordinating fit/product review sessions where required. Preparing samples & product files.

  • Maintaining the factory master list accurately alongside the Factory Compliance Manager, escalating issues to the Product Development Technologist.

  • Managing shared team inboxes (quality/safety inbox - escalated complaints & store comms), escalating any serious issues

  • Supporting the Product Development Technologist in the process of managing customer complaints

  • Coordinating the tender process, managing samples & preparing reports

  • Carrying out competitor analysis (Product Insight ) collating presentations & presenting findings to stakeholders

Candidate requirements

  • Experience in a fast paced environment where delivery of tasks on time is critical to success

  • A high level of computer literacy is required and the ability to learn and implement new systems and processes

  • Ability to work independently managing time effectively and delivering to deadlines

Desirable

  • Experience within a retail head office or manufacturer in a role that covered: Product development Technical, ethical &/or supplier compliance

  • Chemical compliance factory & supplier management

  • May have formal qualifications (degree or equivalent) or on the job training in a related technical field
