Garment Technologist

Our Client a contemporary lifestyle Brand, has a vacancy for a Garment Technologist to work on softs, nightwear & wovens for Mens and Womenswear and some Childrenswear. This is a standalone position as part of a passionate team who love what they do – you will need to be a self starter, able to hit the ground running and always up for a challenge. We are looking for someone who isn’t afraid of change and is happy to question to status quo. The role will involve the management of one other with the opportunity for this to grow with the Client.

Responsibilities

  • Ownership of the whole fit process across multiple categories and departments.

  • Liaise with Buying and Design to support end to end process of sketch to product including creating fully graded technical specifications, specifying testing and make standards.

  • Coordinate and lead all aspects of fit sessions including managing model bookings and budgets.

  • Send clear and concise fit comments to suppliers, ensuring comments are processed in line with critical path requirements and timelines.

  • Liaise with overseas factories and resolve issues at pace.

  • Risk assess product quality and production issues, conducting wearer trials as and when necessary and resolving any issues which may arise.

  • Analyse, with a view to improve, supplier hit rates on fit samples.

  • Analyse quality issues and customer returns data and implement corrective actions.

  • Help with the on boarding and compliance of new factories – conducting overseas travel when necessary.

  • Maintaining and updating of company block library.

Key Skill Requirements

  • Currently working in a Garment Technologist role.

  • A full understanding of garment construction, pattern cutting and manufacturing processes.

  • Multi category experience including softs, wovens and denim (True knit and nightwear would be advantageous but not essential).

  • Ideally will have experience in Womenswear, Menswear and Childrenswear (Homewear would be advantageous).

  • Knowledge of global nightwear regulations.

  • Knowledge of global childrenswear safety requirements and legislation.

  • Confident using Email and Excel.

  • Good understanding of the wholesale and direct to consumer critical path.

  • Strong time management skills with the ability to hit tight deadlines both personally and within a team.

  • Self-motivated with ability to manage a high work load.

  • Experience working with global factories with the ability to communicate effectively and understand different cultures.

  • Highly organised with a methodical, can do approach.

  • Experience in leading and developing junior team members.

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work cross functionally.

  • Comfortable working in a growing and evolving environment.
