Garment Technologist - Womenswear

We are looking for a Garment Technologist to join a leading and highly successful supplier to the High Street.

Candidates must have previous experience in multi-product womenswear, with a particular focus on Evening Dresses, Bridal, Tailoring & Outerwear. 

Training can be given for candidates without sufficient fabric testing knowledge although a basic understanding of testing requirements is required.

Responsibilities include

• Manage your own customer accounts manage the fitting and production of your own product areas and

develop a good relationship with the customer buying and technical teams

• Measure, check, photograph and record all customer fit, sealing and production samples that arrive from the factory for your customer accounts

• Attend customer fit meetings on your customer accounts to ensure garments are approved and critical path

dates are maintained – generally attend 5-8 fit meetings per week (virtual fits where requested)

• Prepare fit comments / size specs and graded size specs for the factory further to customer fit comments/

internal fit comments, liaise with factories / factory technical teams on a daily basis to ensure all requested fit

and make comments are followed

• Issue Chemical and Fabric testing requirements to factories on your running orders and read and check /

approve incoming chemical and fabric testing reports and ensure they meet REACH / UK / EU / USA Legal

Standards.

• Submit approved testing reports to the customers and ensure they meet the required standards, discuss any testing failures with the factory technical teams / fabric mills

• Work with your dedicated merchandiser and chase up customer fit and production samples and ensure

everything runs on time on your accounts on the critical path

• Manage and update your part of the production critical path with your Merchandiser for all orders daily, to

ensure all delivery deadlines can be maintained

• Weekly meeting with the Production Manager and the merchandising team, discuss any production issues on your running orders and work with the team to provide solutions to ensure the orders run on time

• Liaise with the Client’s China Suppliers to ensure all of their QC reports have been sent to London for approval on your orders and discuss any action which is required before goods can be approved for shipping

• Monthly meeting with the entire tech team, Technical manager, Production manager and Director to bring new ideas, best make practices, running production issues and any new production innovation to the meeting

The Candidate

• A product driven, confident, self-motivated Garment technologist with proven experience in a similar role and preferably from the supplier side of the industry, or with a good understanding of the supplier side of the industry

• Must have a very strong eye for detail and construction, we design and produce complex garments across

WW Outerwear, evening dresses, bridal dresses, woven separates, MW Outerwear and woven separates

• Must have proven knowledge of working across multiple product areas – with a focus on evening dresses,

tailoring and outerwear

• Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills

• Must have strong knowledge of textiles, pattern making and grading, and garment construction

• Must have proven ability to work in a fast paced supplier business and the ability to ensure the finished

production is to the Client’s standard

• We are looking for a strong team player who is able to work as part of a growing tech team, sharing their

knowledge and advice in the team

This is currently a full time role, 5 days in the office
