Assistant Garment Technologist - Knitwear 4 month FTC

We have an urgent vacancy for an Assistant Technologist - Knitwear, to join a leading high street name on a 4 month FTC . Reporting to the Technologist this is an important position within the team.

The FTC will be between the 25th July 22 to the 25th November 22. Hybrid working allowed and 4 days would be considered for the right candidate.

Responsibilities:

 • Where appropriate take full technical responsibility for a range as well as providing support to the Technology team across the Department acting on behalf of the Technologist to represent the Client externally and the Department internally

• Work alongside the technologist to support delivery of the BU innovation strategy driving commercial customer focused benefit.

• Support the co-ordination of day-to-day activities (e.g., risk analysis, wearer trials,) to protect the department from product safety, compliance, and ethical issues in line with legislation andpolicy.

• Support the Technologist and work independently as appropriate to deliver clear specifications on Design Tech packs to include fit, fabric quality, construction & components in adherence with Environmental Policy.

• Support the Technologist in managing blocks approval and contract seal processes, working in collaboration with technical counterparts in Sourcing Offices as part of a global team.

• Maintain the business raw material and fabric sourcing strategy and ensure they are appropriate for end use.

• Support the delivery of sustainability requirements into the department and BU in conjunction with buying teams, managing the collation of information, and producing reports where appropriate.

• Perform product benchmarking on behalf of the Technologist and keep informed of key trends and industry developments to build expertise.

• Maintain integrity of product data within the department on systems, working with sourcing offices to ensure suppliers are compliant in providing complete and accurate information as required to enable reporting.

• Build strong relationships within the UK Buying Departments and globally with counterparts in Sourcing Offices and adhering to agreed ways of working and helping to develop global best practice within the product area.

• Support technologist to drive digital process throughout the product development working with central and design teams.

• Compiling and analysing quality data to feed into BU and departmental strategy.

Skills required:

• Ability to learn new technical skills, absorb information and manage own personal development.

• Excellent communication skills within technical function, design and buying, supply base and global Sourcing Offices.

• Multi tasked orientated working to tight deadlines, understanding when to take decisions and when to seek guidance.

• To be able to analyse data and drive insights to support strategic thinking.

• Knowledge and experience of creating product specifications.

• Ability to manage departmental data and leverage systems to enable strategic reporting.

• Ability to work across multiple sourcing models (Client designed, Supplier designed)
