Footwear & Clothing Technologist - Part time (3-4 days a week)

Our Client an established company has an opportunity for a Footwear and Garment Technologist to join their team to support the ambitious growth plans of their Clothing and Footwear workwear brand.

We’re looking for a hardworking, confident and motivated person to provide technical support to the Category Managers. Attention to detail, taking initiative and flexibility are three key characteristics required in this role.

This is a broad role requiring Footwear and Garment knowledge.

Responsibilities include:

  • Ensure product quality is maintained across all product categories

  • Support Category Managers to deliver safe, legal products meeting company policies and legal standards

  • Assist in the development of products from design through to bulk production and shipment

  • Communicating with UK and International suppliers, as well as the Far East office

  • Budget management - testing and rework. Manage faulty returns and critical quality issues

  • Create sealing sheets for new products including size specifications and grading of products

  • Manage the sealing process and wearer trial process

  • Work with the Category Manager to carry out risk assessments

  • Attend focus groups to gather end user feedback

  • Follow legislative changes and advise the team on necessary action required

  • Set and maintain manufacturing quality standards

  • Chase and approve test reports and manage labelling

  • Ensure factory audits are maintained.

    Candidate requirements:

  • A degree in Garment Technology, Pattern Cutting, Clothing Design or equivalent Footwear qualifications preferred

  • Footwear experience is essential for this role and multi-product experience is preferred

  • A knowledge of worldwide legislation, certification and testing standards relevant to Footwear and Garments required.

  • A knowledge of safety footwear and PPE Accessory Certification and testing is desirable

  • A good understanding of Critical path management

  • An understanding of interpreting factory audits is required

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication

  • Commercially minded, with a keen eye for detail

  • The ability to think calmly and clearly under pressure
