Product Technologist - FMCG

Our Client is a unique and fast expanding international organisation who design, create and manufacture promotional product for leading Brands offering a 360’ service bringing a concept to reality. With offices in the US, Hong Kong and London they are expanding their team to support their increasing customer demand and are looking to recruit a Product Technologist for the London based team.

This is a customer facing role supporting US Brands and covers a broad range of products

Job Description:

You will be responsible for supporting the Global Compliance Manager in driving product compliance across the global team, with particular focus on global legislation, specifically UK, EU and US. Experience with all of these markets would be advantageous. Multi product experience required to cover hard goods, fashion accessories, home and gifting, packaging, electrical, food and beauty accessories.

Role responsibilities:

• Taking ownership of technical compliance across several teams covering multi product.

• Ensuring products are safe and fit for purpose through continued risk assessment.

• Implementing procedures to ensure continued high quality standards.

• Ensure that all products meet chemical, legal and performance standards, including education of our suppliers to promote responsible sourcing and product compliance.

• Supporting the Creative/Design and Operations teams with testing and product compliance queries.

• On boarding new suppliers and clients.

• Managing global factory base – including ethical and social compliance.

• Effective communication with global factory base and Client’s global team.

Candidate Requirements:

• Experience of working with or for global retailers and brands

• Extensive knowledge and understanding of US and EU testing and compliance requirements including Reach, Prop 65, and labelling requirements. Previous experience of FDA regulations would be an added advantage.

• Knowledge of product sustainability and packaging requirements is required.

• Strong technical expertise in multiple product areas is essential

• Experience in visiting global factories and sound knowledge of manufacturing processes of a variety of product types.

• A proactive attitude and commercial decision making skills are essential for this role.

Our Client has a flexible approach to working to accommodate their international client and manufacturing base. Flexible hours and some working from home will be permitted
