Our Client is a women’s underwear brand manufacturing in-house in London and selling direct to customers online. The business currently uses off cut fabrics as well as locally sourced elastics and components. Manufacturing is done entirely in-house by the manufacturing team.
About the Job Role
We are looking to hire a fabric cutter to work in the factory unit. The cutter will be responsible to prepare cut work, straps and components for the sewing team to a high standard. The role will require using industrial cutting tools and sample cutting by hand.
As this is a small factory, cutting will not take all of your time. In your free time, you will help with packing orders, organising the workplace, receiving deliveries and supporting the overall production line.
Responsibilities for Fabric Cutter
Cut products at speed and to a high standard
Use industrial cutting knives and cut samples by hand as required
Be aware of and report fabric and marker faults e.g. grainline is off or a marker didn’t print correctly
Organise cut work and components for the sewing team
Prepare bra straps, threads, elastics for the sewing team
Keep the cutting area organised
Support the business with organisational work in your free time
Develop good teamwork with your cutting partner
Contribute to the overall running of the production line to ensure deadlines are met
The Ideal Candidate
Has apprenticeship or professional training as a cutter in a factory setting.
Experience cutting lingerie fabrics would be a plus but not absolutely essential
Has previous experience working with Industrial cutting knives, preferably a straight knife.
A hard worker and has a great attitude
Wants to learn and improve their cutting and production skills
Is extremely organised
Has excellent communication skills - confident to speak up when the see a production problem
