Our Client, a leading Supermarket chain has a vacancy for an Assistant Technologist in their Womenswear Technical Team. The Assistant Technologist will help deliver the category strategy by supporting the Technical Manager and Product Technologist.
As well as working across the Womenswear division, the Assistant Technologists take responsibility for their own area within womenswear, working as part of a team including buyers, designers, merchandisers, and supply chain. This role includes opportunities to travel to suppliers and other offices, and you will work with the overseas offices, giving you the opportunity to develop your experience in working with other cultures in different time zones.
To succeed in this role, you’ll need to understand the technical process that goes into producing high-quality garments, so you will have experience in this type of role or have studied within fashion. You’ll be dealing with a lot of stakeholders including manufacturers and trading teams, so great communication will be key.
The role:
• Supports product delivery including supplier and product approval, competitor benchmarking, customer/store feedback, range reviews and post-implementation reviews
• Works with Technical Managers, Product Technologists, Buyers, Merchandisers to identify supplier selection for products and deliver on sourcing strategy and critical path
• Follows the KPI technical strategy with suppliers. Implements improvements in supplier performance or product quality and sets up the payment of invoices for external parties and cross charging to other areas of business
• Create and manage technical records (technical files, product standards, testing reports, workbooks, etc) in line with company procedures and legal guidelines.
• Supports the technical team by taking on and delivering appropriate projects
• Responsible for storing and keeping records of samples including customer complaints
• Supports technical team with the administrative tasks such as data collection and interpretation, preparation, review, and sample management, contacting suppliers and testing laboratories as appropriate
• Contributes to Product development and continuous product improvement
The Candidate:
• Product-relevant degree or equivalent, or experience in a similar role
• Good IT knowledge especially Excel & MS Office
• Analytical & Numerical skills
• Commercially aware in terms of the market and trends
• Able to engage at all levels with great written and verbal communication skills
• Able to deliver results whilst working under pressure in a fast-moving, dynamic retail environment, as an individual, and within a team
