Quality Manager, Jewellery, Gifts and Watches

Location: West Midlands
Salary: up to £35k

Our Client a leading specialist in Branded Jewellery, Gifts and Watches has  a vacancy for a Quality Manager. You will support the senior management and quality team to strive for the continuous improvement of quality standards. A meticulous eye for detail coupled with a good commercial awareness is key to the role. You will liaise with both the UK and Far East teams to set clear consistent quality of production by developing and enforcing good manufacturing practice. A pro-active, positive mindset and clear communication skills are vital to the role. Experience in Watches is not essential as training will be given but a good all round knowledge of hard Accessories is required.

Quality Manager Key Responsibilities

  • Support senior management in the development of business/department improvement plans and projects  
  • Work with the Far East factories, technical team’s, and inspection centre to capture quality failures in country
  • Set clear standards/measures and corrective action plans
  • Conduct technical assessment of products on allocated accounts
  • Research and review new product specialisms/manufacturing methods and related legislation
  • Review product development & risk assessment at the beginning of the critical path to ensure all products are fit for purpose, meet quality, safety, and legal requirements
  • Manage critical path timelines to ensure that the customer’s technical specifications & testing uploads to portals/systems are available on time
  • Liaise with senior management to enforce standards with the factories to achieve right first-time samples
  • New innovations – initiate market research for product improvements to present to customers and internal teams. Support the design team on new innovations to ensure product is fit for purpose
  • Where appropriate, advise on changes, provide training on how to implement them with the aid of best practice documents to set clear quality standards
  • Customer facing - Initiate product assessment sessions with customer base where required
  • Manage the internal teams/factories to facilitate a timely schedule for product testing and manage this throughout the critical path
  • Ensure all customer mandatory testing requirements are met and managed alongside due diligence testing programme
  • Manage testing risk assessment process - focus on internal testing budget & customer requirements
  • Work with the QA Admin colleague/s to track products under test and manage factories and testing house to ensure results are received on time
  • Report test results to relevant stakeholders of the product/brand and provide a top line summary to non-technical colleagues
  • Assess and approve product and packaging labels and artwork to customers’ and legislative requirements
  • Ensure all QA quality records are filed and stored in an efficient, accurate manner
  •  Investigate customer complaints and non-compliance issues relating to allocated accounts and support senior management to provide corrective action plans
  •  Travel to the Far East when required
  •  Management of direct reports
  • Support senior management where required on critical quality issues
  •  Assist in other duties/projects where necessary to complete tasks appropriate to the department

Quality Manager Skills & Experience

  •  Relevant Degree and/or Previous relevant experience and a proven record of accomplishment of delivering safe, legal, and ethical products to the customer
  •  Comprehensive knowledge of quality systems (QA) (QC)
  • Must demonstrate leadership/management skills
  • Strong communicator, able to influence and engage others
  •  Able to problem-solve, multi-task and prioritise effectively
  •  Good organisational and planning skills
  •    Skills in numerical and statistical analysis
  •  Able to work as part of a team - agile and open minded in approach
  •  Analytical and able to interpret test results effectively
  •  Pro-active, adaptable, and self-motivated
  •  Able to make decisions based on evaluation of risks and available information
  •  Able to work under pressure in a fast-moving dynamic environment
  • Excellent computer literacy
